Historical Notes on Section 107
- Known as the "Revelation on the Priesthood"
- Prophet met in council with the Twelve shortly before they were to break up on various missions; they confessed weaknesses and shortcomings and sought guidance from the Lord.
- Twelve asked Joseph to enquire of God and obtain a written revelation that they could look upon when they were separated on their various missions.
- Oliver Cowdery may have served as scribe for this revelation.

Doctrine and Covenants Section 110
- When: April 3, 1836 (Sunday)

- Who: Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery
- What: Savior appears and accepts the Kirtland Temple. Moses, Elias, and Elijah appear and commit the keys of their dispensations.
- First published in the Deseret News (November 6, 1852) and included as section 110 in the 1876 Doctrine and Covenants.

Let the hearts of your brethren rejoice, and let the hearts of all my people rejoice, who have, with their might, built this house to my name. For behold, I have accepted this house, and my name shall be here; and I will manifest myself to my people in mercy in this house (D&C 110:6–7).
Elijah the prophet . . . stood before us, and said: Behold, the time has fully come, which was spoken of by the mouth of Malachi—testifying that he [Elijah] should be sent, before the great and dreadful day of the Lord come—to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the children to the fathers, lest the whole earth be smitten with a curse—Therefore, the keys of this dispensation are committed into your hands; and by this ye may know that the great and dreadful day of the Lord is near, even at the doors (D&C 110:13–16).
Historical Notes on Section 110
- On April 3, 1836, (Sunday, one week after the dedication of the temple) the Saints gathered to worship in the temple.
- The sacrament was administered after which Joseph and Oliver secluded themselves from the congregation behind curtain partitions.
- After silent prayer, Joseph and Oliver saw a series of visions wherein they saw the Savior, Moses, Elias, and Elijah.

Doctrine and Covenants Section 111
- When: August 6, 1836 (Saturday)
- Where: Salem, Essex County, Massachusetts
- Who: Joseph Smith (at this time Church leaders were in debt because of their labors in the Church)
- What: The Lord is aware of the temporal needs of His servants, the Lord is merciful to Zion and He arranges all things from the good of His servants.
- First published in the Deseret News (December 25, 1852) and included as section 111 in the 1876 Doctrine and Covenants.
Doctrine and Covenants Section 112
- When: July 23, 1837 (Sunday)
- Where: Kirtland, Geauga County, Ohio
- Who: Joseph Smith to Thomas B. March, President of the Quorum of the Twelve
- What: Twelve are to preach the gospel and give warning to all nations, to take up their cross, follow Jesus, and feed His sheep. To receive the First Presidency is to receive the Lord, darkness shall cover the earth and the baptized shall be saved, the First Presidency and the Twelve hold the keys of the dispensation.
- First published as section 104 in the 1844 Doctrine and Covenants.

The economic panic that swept the nation during the 1830s contributed to economic problems in Kirtland. Some members blamed Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon for the failing economy and other disappointments. In Kirtland, services were interrupted in the temple by Latter-day Saint dissenters.

Threats and violence in Kirtland

Under the cover of darkness on January 12, 1838, Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon escaped from their enemies at Kirtland, Ohio. This was several months before a general exodus of the Saints.

- What: Answers to questions on the writings of Isaiah. The Stem of Jesse, the rod coming there from, and the root of Jesse are identified. Scattered remnants of Zion have a right to the priesthood and are called to return to the Lord.

- What: Church positions held by those who are not faithful will be given to others.

- What: Lord gives name to his Church, Saints commanded to build a temple in Far West.
- First published in the Elders' Journal (August 1838) and included as section 115 in the 1876 Doctrine and Covenants.

For thus shall my church be called in the last days, even The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (D&C 115:4).
Let the city of Far West, be a holy and consecrated land unto me; and it shall be called most holy, for the ground upon which thou standest is holy. Therefore, I command you to build a house unto me, for the gathering together of my saints, that they may worship me (D&C 115:7–8).
Historical Notes on Section 115
- Previous to this revelation, the Church had been known as "The Church of Christ" (April 6, 1830–May 3, 1834) and "The Church of the Latter Day Saints" (May 3, 1834–April 26, 1838).
- The city of Far West was laid out in August 1836 and by late 1838 the population was nearly 5,000 (almost entirely Mormon).
- Cornerstones of the Far West Temple were laid July 4, 1838.
- Walls for the temple were at one time nearly three feet high, but the building was never completed.

- What: Spring Hill is named by the Lord as Adam-ondi-Ahman because it is the place where Adam shall visit his people.

- Who: Joseph Smith
- What: Lord's servants should not covet temporal things, forsake littleness of soul and their sacrifices shall be sacred to the Lord.
- First published in the Deseret News (April 2, 1853) and included as section 117 in the 1876 Doctrine and Covenants.

- Where: Far West, Caldwell County, Missouri
- Who: Joseph Smith (after four of the Twelve fell into apostasy, the remaining eight inquired of the Lord as to what should be done with the Twelve)
- What: The Lord will provide for the families of the Twelve and the vacancies of the Twelve are filled.

- Who: Joseph Smith
- What: Saints are to pay surplus of their property and one tenth of their interest. This will sanctify the land of Zion.

- When: July 18, 1838 (Wednesday) (the correct date is July 8. The Scriptory Book of Joseph Smith notes, "Revelation given the same day July 8th 1838 making know the disposition of the properties tithed as named in the proceeding revelation.")

- What: The responsibility of distributing consecrated monies and properties is given to a Church council consisting of the First Presidency, the bishopric and the high council.
